Students Gain Firsthand Appreciation for Nature at Cathance River Preserve

TOPSHAM — When a group of Woodside Elementary School first- and fifth-graders hiked on a trail with a teacher and parents Friday, the younger explorers needed encouragement and a bit of reassurance.

"We're not lost, are we?" one asked.

Hardly.

Friday's field trip to the Cathance River Preserve focused on discovery, not loss. Students made their way along one of the preserve's trails, getting a close look at life in the outdoors with each step of their sojourn.  (Read the full story at the Times Record)
