Planning for Golf Learning Center at Highland Green Underway

December 8, 2006

The planning and pre-development work has begun for a full-scale Golf Learning Center that will be located south of Village Drive near the entrance to Highland Green. Current plans for the Golf Learning Center include:

  • driving range with multi-tiered, grass teeing areas and several covered bays;
  • several short-game practice areas including bunkers and greens;
  • in the Scottish tradition, a short, par-3 “wee” course with holes ranging from 75 to 100 yards;
  • a “Meeting House” and banquet facility that will be developed utilizing the beams of an antique barn.

Discussions are also underway with the Maine Golf Hall of Fame, who may have their museum and offices located adjacent to the Golf Learning Center. Author and local golf guru Jim Dodson is working with Highland Green on the planning and design of the Center.

“The Golf Learning Center at Highland Green will be a marvelous place for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy time practicing and appreciating the game. I’m particularly excited about the ‘wee’ course, which will be the perfect place for beginners who aren’t ready for the long course or to settle a bet after a pint at the Pub.”
