Since opening in 2006 the Highland Green Community Center has become an important gathering place that provides a venue for resident activities ranging from Civil War roundtable discussion to Chewonki live animal wildlife presentations. The Center includes a large function space, kitchen, meeting room, fitness center, heated swimming pool, tennis and croquet courts and outdoor function space.
Super bowl parties, lobster bakes, charity dinner and dance, pot-luck dinners, lectures, fitness training, bridge club, resident birthday parties and other activities determined by the residents are also regular events. The building features a wrap-around porch overlooking the lawn, pool, tennis and croquet courts and 4th and 5th holes of the Scottish-style golf course.
The fitness center includes weight and cardiovascular equipment, yoga/aerobic room, lockers with showers. Fitness training and catering services are also available at the Community Center.
